Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 21, 2026
iFun Education ("we," "us," or "our") operates MathBuddy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a parent or guardian.
1. Who Registers Accounts
MathBuddy accounts are registered and managed by parents or legal guardians on behalf of their children. Children do not register independently. By creating an account, the parent or guardian provides verifiable consent under COPPA for their child to use the Service.
2. Information We Collect
Account information: Parent/guardian name, email address, and a securely hashed password.
Child's educational data: Grade level, math topics practiced, problems attempted, answers submitted, session duration, and progress over time. We do not collect the child's name, photo, or any personally identifying information beyond what the parent provides.
Payment information: Processed by Stripe. We store only a Stripe customer ID and subscription status — not your full card details.
Technical data: Browser type, device type, and general location (country/state) for security and service purposes.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide and personalize the learning experience for the child
- To process payments and manage subscriptions
- To send transactional emails to the parent/guardian (payment receipts, trial reminders, account notices)
- To improve the quality and accuracy of our Service
- To detect fraud and ensure platform security
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not use children's educational data for advertising purposes.
4. COPPA — Children Under 13
MathBuddy is used by children as young as 5 years old (Kindergarten). We fully comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
- All accounts are registered by a parent or guardian who provides consent
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent
- We do not allow children to independently register or provide personal data
- We do not display behavioral advertising to children
- We do not sell children's data
Parent rights under COPPA: At any time, you may:
- Review the data we have collected about your child
- Request correction or deletion of your child's data
- Revoke consent and delete the account through Account Settings or by emailing us
Contact us at mathbuddy@ifuneducation.com to exercise these rights.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with the following service providers, solely to operate MathBuddy:
- Anthropic — math questions are sent to Anthropic's AI to generate tutoring responses. No personal information is sent — only the math content of the question.
- Stripe — for secure payment processing
- Resend — for sending transactional emails to parents/guardians
- Supabase — for secure database storage
- Vercel — for web application hosting
All providers are bound by data processing agreements and may only use data as directed by us.
6. Data Security
We use HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords, and secure API key management. We regularly review our security practices. However, no internet service is 100% secure, and we encourage parents to use strong, unique passwords.
7. Data Retention
We retain account and educational data for as long as the account is active. When an account is deleted, we remove personal data within 30 days, except where legally required to retain records.
8. Parent and Guardian Rights
As the account holder, you have the right to:
- Access all data associated with your account
- Update your name or email through Account Settings
- Delete your account and all associated data through Account Settings
- Request a data export by contacting us
- Unsubscribe from non-transactional emails at any time
9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what data we collect, the right to delete personal data, and the right to opt out of sale. We do not sell personal information. To exercise CCPA rights, contact mathbuddy@ifuneducation.com.
10. Cookies and Local Storage
MathBuddy uses browser local storage to maintain login sessions. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
11. Changes to This Policy
We will notify parents by email of material changes to this policy. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
